Love the Skin You’re In (and Treat it Right!) — Winter Beauty Product Faves

Love the Skin You’re In (and Treat it Right!) — Winter Beauty Product Faves

Hey readers!

I wanted to share some of my favorite beauty products as of late. For the past 7 months, or so—since graduating college, moving to NorCal, and just generally changing—I have noticed a difference in the look and feel of my skin. I have had some breakouts and clogged pores, and for a while nothing seemed to be working! But switching up my skincare products has really changed the appearance and feel of my skin. I’m so happy about it!

I have also included a couple of makeup favorites of mine, both of which I have been using to achieve a glowy look. My skin has looked quite dull, and these items makeup bits totally help alleviate that.

IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation Illumination: I’ve been using this face powder so much lately! It applies like a dream, has build-able coverage, and doesn’t look too matte on my face. I love how it gives my complexion a slightly glow-y finish without looking shiny—it is perfect for these winter months, when my skin can look so dull! I love applying it with a light hand using my Ecotools sheer powder brush. This brush is great because it allows me to apply my makeup lightly, so it doesn’t end up caking on my face or accentuating any dry patches I may have.

Laura Gellar Easy Illuminating Stick: This has been my go-to highlight for a year now, and it it absolutely stunning. I originally purchased it when I was first experimenting with cream and liquid highlight and contour products, and I fell in love with it! It is so easy to use and is totally blend-able and build-able. This Gilded Honey shade is the cream form of their bestselling powder highlight, and even though it is a golden shade, it does not look too dark on my fair skin. Definitely check this one out if you want a natural yet noticeable cream highlight!

CosRX Moisturizer: I started getting into Korean skincare last summer when I knew I needed to make a change in my skincare routine. This moisturizer is one of the products that has definitely stuck with me! It is very moisturizing but not too thick, and I love the feeling my skin has in the morning after I apply this overnight. My skin really really likes this stuff! If you have dry or combination skin and want a moisturizer that is not greasy, can double as an under eye moisturizer, and wears well under makeup, then this will be your best friend! Bonus: it can double as a moisturizing mask. How cool is that?!

Mario Badescu Acne Products: A common theme of this post is finding products that my skin loves. And Mario Badescu skincare products totally take the cake! While I have used the drying lotion in the past and loved it as a spot treatment, this winter I was looking for products that would really help with my pores and blackheads. The buffering lotion and silver powder have definitely made a difference in my skin. The buffering lotion is great for nightly use (or as needed), and I can tell that it has cleared up my under-the-skin clogged pores before they get out of hand. And I love using the silver powder as a mask.

Let me know what products you’ve been using, and if you have any recommendations! 🙂

Year-Round Magic: My Favorite Disney Clothing & Accessories

Year-Round Magic: My Favorite Disney Clothing & Accessories

Disney is one of my favorite things, so it’s a no-brainer that I love to incorporate Disney style in my everyday life. Here are a few of my favorite items that help me keep the magic alive—even when I am not in the parks!

Alex & Ani Cinderella Bracelet

I’m starting off with my favorite souvenir from my recent trip to Walt Disney World: my Alex & Ani bracelet. Before the trip, I had never owned an Alex & Ani before, and I knew that this would be the perfect place to purchase my first one. And what better princess to honor than Cinderella, the symbol of the Magic Kingdom?!

Seeing Cinderella Castle for the first time was one of the most special moments in my life, and eating at Cinderella’s Royal Table was an absolute dream. So Chris and I knew upon seeing this bracelet at World of Disney that it would be the only choice for me.

I love wearing my A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes bracelet on its own or with other gold jewelry. It’s the perfect touch of Disney for everyday wear, and the jingling sound of the charm reminds me of charm bracelets I would often wear as a child. This bracelet is so special because it is a symbol of our first trip to WDW and a reminder to never stop dreaming.

Typo Mickey Mouse Club Tote

What an awesome (and CUTE) tote bag! I purchased this from Typo—am I the last one to realize that they have awesome Disney merch?! I love this because it isn’t outrageously Disney. The gold text on the black canvas is tasteful and trendy, and the subtle references to Mickey and Disney are only noticed upon close-up inspection.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good Disney bag, but I also love to incorporate Disney into my outfits in subtle ways. This bag is perfect for toting around my work laptop or study supplies, and it’s an awesome carry on for my frequent flights.

Oh Yeah Apparel Main Street Academy Sweatshirt

Sweatshirt from OYA; Tsum Tsum from Disney Parks; custom ears made by Chris.

Oh Yeah Apparel is definitely one of my favorite small shops. I have loved them for well over a year, and I love their original Disney clothing items. Christopher purchased this Main Street Academy sweatshirt for me earlier this year, and I have loved it ever since.

Even though the owners of Oh Yeah Apparel are WDW locals, this sweatshirt is a fantastic reference to Disneyland, the first Disney park ever! I always feel as though I am paying homage to Walt and Disneyland, my favorite childhood park (and still my favorite place!). Plus, it’s SO cozy, and it fits me like a glove, so I never feel that I’m swimming in a on of fabric when I wear it.

ShopDisney Minnie Mouse Long Sleeve

You can never go wrong with the queen herself! Well over a year ago, I bought Chris a Mickey Mouse long sleeve shirt, and since then we were looking for a matching Minnie one for me. We found this cozy number in 2016 while walking around World of Disney after an awesome September day at California Adventure, and we both knew after seeing it that it was meant to be.

This shirt is so fun to style because of its boat neck. I can wear it off the shoulder and layer it with so many other pieces. It’s cozy and loose enough to sleep in, but it’s in good enough condition to still wear out day to day. I love it!

Thanks for reading! If you have something you’re passionate about, don’t be afraid to show it through your clothing and accessories. Wearing these Disney pieces brings a smile to my face every day. 🙂

All in a Golden Afternoon

All in a Golden Afternoon

Hello everyone! Today I have another fashion post for you. This is one of my favorite outfits for this season because it has all of my favorite pieces in it!

I want to post more about fashion and style to share how you can dress fashionably without breaking the bank. All of the pieces in this outfit are totally affordable and were either purchased on sale or at low prices! I just graduated college in June, I’m paying off student loans, and I’m a pretty busy girl, so the last thing I can do is buy a ton of expensive or designer pieces all the time. Here is a classic outfit of mine that encompasses everything I love! Check the captions for outfit details. 🙂

My cardigan is from Urban Outfitters and I got it on sale last Winter! My turtleneck is my new FAVORITE shirt and it was $15 (!!!!) from Uniqlo. Pro tip: Uniqlo is a great place to get basic stylish pieces at really affordable prices. This shirt was regularly priced!
My jeans are from Hollister and I got them for under $40. Hollister jeans aren’t the best quality, but they fit my body type the best because they are stretchy and come in a long size, and the high-waisted fit is SO comfortable!
My slip-on blush pink mules are from Amazon and were $16! They took a little bit of breaking in, but now they are super comfortable, and I wear them almost every other day!
My Alex and Ani bracelet is from the Disney Parks! I got it on our recent WDW trip. It was totally a splurge, but it was the number one souvenir I wanted for myself, and it’s my first Alex and Ani! I wear it all the time. My knot ring is a gift from my precious boyfriend, but he got it from Nordstrom a couple years ago, and they have similar affordable styles there still.

These tassel earrings are super on-trend right now…but I snagged mine for $8 from AMAZON. Go get some!

Summer in the ‘Lil City

Summer in the ‘Lil City

My top is from Hollister, my skirt is from Romwe, and my shoes are from Target (I wear them basically every single day hahaha).

Hey everyone! Long time no blog. It’s been so long since updating this website: I have graduated college, moved to the Bay Area, and begun working in my first full-time job. What the heck?!

I think over the past year I have truly found my style—and I am so excited to finally start updating this blog with more outfit posts! I love dressing in clothes that make me feel confident, and this outfit was perfect for my Saturday summertime lunch with Chris.

We had a day out in Palo Alto at the Stanford Shopping Center, and Chris—being the angel of a boyfriend that he is—snapped a couple photos of my outfit…and told me how to look cute in the pics. 🙂

Life in the Bay is definitely different. It has taken some getting used to! But something I love about it here is that there is always something to do. I have found myself discovering a new place every week, whether it is a little restaurant or a thrift shop. And that keeps life interesting.

I have found that working full-time can be very tiring and monotonous, so going out on the weekend (even if it is just a little outing to lunch in a nearby city, like Chris and I did) helps me to feel good and happy. I love staying home, but I can get very bored on the weekends if I spend all day inside!

That’s all I have for today! Thanks for reading and sticking with me, even after it’s been so long. Let me know your thoughts on what I should post next. You’ll be seeing a WDW update sometime soon.

Winter Beauty Favorites

Winter Beauty Favorites

Hello my readers! Today I wanted to do something a bit different and share with you my Winter beauty favorites! One of my new year’s resolutions is to take pride and take my time when putting myself together in the morning. I find that wearing a bit of makeup and spending time getting ready really makes me feel so much more confident throughout the day. Maybe this isn’t for you, and that’s okay–but this truly does make me happy. And I think that is great! Most of these products are affordable, and even the ones that are high-end are not outrageously expensive. I try to have a mix of types of products and only spend money on things I can truly see myself wearing often and loving. By making conscious and mindful purchases, I ensure that I love everything I own–including my beauty products.

Starting at the top is my NYX tinted brow gel. This stuff is definitely a game changer for my eyebrows. It locks them in place while still adding some tint, and on days when I am just wearing the tiniest bit of makeup, I always enjoy applying this. I think it makes a big difference and does the quick trick!

I have been loving my MAC blush in “Breath of Plum.” It is a sheertone so the pigmentation can be super light but also build-able. I think it is a great Winter shade but I can definitely see myself wearing this year round. And I LOVE that it is matte because I can wear my highlight and not feel that my face is too shimmery. Shoutout to my lovely boyfriend for treating me to this!

The Benefit Roller Lash mascara is my all-time favorite. It lengthens and I don’t even use a curler with it.

I have seen numerous bloggers rave about the Mario Badescu facial spray…and I finally know why. I use this before and after my makeup to hydrate my skin and feel fresh and dewy. And it is super affordable, too!

I saw this Maybelline quad in “Chai Latte” at Ulta one day when I was looking for a small palette with a matte brown shadow, and this one really does the trick. I also saw JAMBeauty89 talk about it (check her out–you won’t regret it!) after I purchased, and I instantly got so excited! It is such a great quad for every day, but the gold shadow is awesome for transitioning to a date night look.

This Revlon lipstick is my new go-to for day and night. It is natural enough but it still gives my lips some life, and it doesn’t dry them out at all.

The Stila “Kitten” eyeshadow is a cult favorite…and for good reason. It is so shimmery and so buildable at the same time, and soon after purchasing it I became hooked. I especially love this shade for winter because it brightens my eyes and gives them a glowy look. I know there are so many drugstore dupes for it, but this was a little gift to myself, and I know if I am careful I can make it last.

Finally, the NYX HD translucent pressed finishing powder is amazing. I am new to translucent powders for setting my undereyes so I wanted to start off with one that was pressed and not messy. And I am so happy I did! This is finely milled and helps my concealer not crease. I have loved using it in areas where I get a little oily during the day, while omitting it from areas where I want to loon more fresh and dewy.

If you like this style of blog post, please let me know! I am trying to expand my topics more and make this blog have a little something for everyone. Thank you for reading!

Bailee Takes Taiwan: Travel Essentials (So Far!)

Bailee Takes Taiwan: Travel Essentials (So Far!)

Hi everyone! With my upcoming trip to Taiwan this winter, I have begun thinking about what I want to bring. There are so many things that come to mind when I think of travel essentials (especially after reading Backpacks and Blackboards’s super helpful packing list), but very few that I realize I actually need to bring with me. So, I have narrowed it down to the top six things I think I should bring on my trip. Here they are!

1. A windbreaker.

Thunderstorms are currently on the horizon for Taipei, and while I can’t be too sure what the weather will be like this winter, so given the unpredictability I think a windbreaker should definitely be an essential. I bought mine over the summer at Wal-Mart for around $14. Normally I don’t buy clothes at Wal-Mart, but as a college student on a budget, I definitely swoop on any deal I can. The windbreaker is black, lightweight, hooded, and (the best part) can be tightened at the waist. Rain or shine, this light jacket will come in handy.

Tip: purchase jackets one size larger! This way, you can wear big sweaters underneath and still feel comfy.

2. My Macbook Pro.

While I wouldn’t normally consider bring a computer on a vacation, I want to make sure I can write blog posts about every destination, as well as Facetime my family. Therefore, this laptop will definitely be my late night and early morning BFF.

3. Lip balm.

My recent favorite is the EOS lip balm in honeydew melon. It tastes light a fruity and does a great job at moisturizing my lips. The best part? It is so large and oddly shaped that I can always find it in my purse or backpack! I have heard that airplanes are very dry, so this will keep my lips from getting gross and chapped.

4. Moisturizer.

As we are getting into the depths of fall, my skin has been terribly dry. It is awful! So I have been using the Trader Joes Nourish Moisturizer. It is lightweight, can be worn under makeup, and I never forget to apply it before bed. I will definitely be bringing this in a travel container. Who knows how my skin will react to the weather in Taiwan?

5. Mascara.

I will probably bring a small makeup bag with me (upcoming blog post to come), but mascara is my number one product. The Covergirl Super Sizer mascara separates my lashes while making them nice and thick with just one or two coats. If I don’t wear any other makeup, I’ll definitely look more awake while wearing this.

6. Booties.

You can never go wrong with a pair of tan booties! I have had these Sam and Libby ones from Target for around a year, and they are still going strong. They are broken in perfectly and go with any outfit — skirts/dresses with tights, skinny jeans, you name it! Plus they are super comfortable to walk in, which is a must, Chris tells me, because we will be doing a LOT of walking in Taiwan.

Thanks for reading! Please let me know what your travel essentials are, especially for tropical winter climates.

Pumpkin Patch Fun & Life Update!

Pumpkin Patch Fun & Life Update!

Outfit details: Top: Paper Moon; Skirt: Cotton On; Boots and socks: Target; Purse: Nordstrom BP; Earrings: gift

Hello! Wow, long time no post. Since starting my junior year of college, life has been incredibly busy but exciting at the same time. I have been learning a new language, continuing my internship in the English department, editing for my college newspaper, and also working! It feels like everything has been happening at once, which is so great but also really scary. I haven’t been updating this blog as much as I like to, and that is partially because I haven’t had any photos but also because I haven’t felt as inspired. BUT hopefully this fall-themed post will change that!
Last week, Chris and I went to the pumpkin patch with a group of friends for our friend Maddie’s birthday. It was so fun! I have been wanting an excuse to go to the pumpkin patch this year, but Chris and I have just been so busy that we didn’t get around to it for a while. But we had a great time!! Unfortunately, I got lost in the corn maze for a while, so that was pretty frustrating because it was just so hot (90 degrees!!) and I just wanted a cold drink. Eventually I got out though, so everything was fine. Haha! Chris and I ended up getting a small pumpkin for only $3, and he also bought us a jar of pumpkin butter. It was so sweet! I have been wanting to have pumpkin butter for so long, and I feel like he is so good as feeding my basic addictions and getting me pumpkin goodies all the time (we got PSLs and cocoa before the trip, hehehe).
As far as life goes, I just finished my midterms this week! It feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I have been feeling so overwhelmed these past couple weeks so it is nice to finally have a break from studying and focus on my work for Her Campus and the English department. I feel like I have been slacking on much with those commitments! I really need this weekend to catch up and relax.
I have also been feeling insecure lately. I have just been comparing myself to other people more than usual, and it is so unhealthy and daunting. I feel like I have been in a funk these past couple days and I just need to get some things off my chest and focus on the positives, and how I can change my frame of mind. I only have one life, and a day spent wallowing in self-pity is a day wasted. I just don’t like feeling lost or less! That is not fun at all. I think I will just take this time to focus on myself and what I want out of life and who I want to be as an individual, rather than thinking about what others are doing and what they think of me. Hopefully, it will make me feel better. I know it will.
That’s all I have for now! This post was more diary-centered, with the above photos that Chris took. He had a little photoshoot with me at the pumpkin patch and it was so cute because he would ask me to pose in front of so many things! It was kind of weird but also fun. It only makes me think about what it is going to be like when we go to Taiwan! We will have soooo many pictures. I can’t believe it is less than two months away!
Hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween.
OOTD: Disneyland 60th Anniversary

OOTD: Disneyland 60th Anniversary

This past weekend, I went to Disneyland with my boyfriend, Chris, and his cousin, Aaron! It was the 60th anniversary celebration and we were beyond excited to see all of the new sights, events, and treats the park had to offer! Oddly enough, nearly all of the clothing items and accessories I wore were borrowed/gifts (oops!).

Starting at the top: my hat borrowed from Chrisit is a fedora he purchased while on vacation in Greece last summer, but similar, inexpensive ones can be found here.
The brown crossbody bag is borrowed from my old roommate, Eliana! She purchased it at H&M a few seasons ago, but similar styles can be found online or in-store.

My dress is a gift from Chris’s mother! She said she bought it from Abercrombie & Fitch with me in mind and she gave it to me the night before the tripbecause of the light fabric and white color, I thought it would be perfect for Disneyland! I can’t find it anymore online, but a very similar one can be found here. The dress is open-back, so underneath it I am wearing a white Roxy eyelet bralette, purchased at PacSun two years ago. I couldn’t find it on the website, but here is a very similar one from Abercrombie & Fitch! 🙂
In the photo above, you can just barely see my earrings. They are long, dainty, silver ones with faux diamonds. I can’t remember exactly where I got them, but ones with a very similar style are on Etsy!
My shoes (pictured in the top photo) are brown gladiator sandals from Wal Mart (I stole them from my mom, hehe).
We had such a wonderful time exploring the park! It was very warm, but nice and cool in the shade. Chris bought us all Dole whips, which was so sweet (literally!) and they cooled us off in the hot sun. My favorite rides were Space Mountain and Indiana Jones! They are so exhilarating; I don’t think Aaron, liked the fast rides very much, but overall he seemed to enjoy himself! Chris wanted to ride the Finding Nemo submarines and I wanted to ride Peter Pan, but we just didn’t manage to have the time to do everything we wanted in only one day. Oh well, I guess that means we need to plan another trip!
